11-09-2026 New apps, and the ones we said no to - Bytesized Hosting

A batch of new apps went live on the App Installation page today. Every one of them came from the "Request a Docker image" form on the Apps page, so thank you for those. All of them run in rootless Docker under your own account, the same way the apps we added earlier this year do.

Photos and books

• Immich: your own photo and video library, with automatic backup from the Immich app on your phone. Smart search and face grouping run on your appbox. This one is heavy, so give it the memory it asks for.
• BookLore and Grimmory: two ebook, comic and audiobook libraries with a reader in the browser, Kobo and KOReader sync, and OPDS. Grimmory is a community fork of BookLore. Pick one, they share the same books folder.
• Calibre Web Automated: Calibre-Web with an import pipeline. Drop a file in the bookdrop folder and it lands in your library with metadata.
• Calibre: the full Calibre desktop, shown in your browser, for when you need the real thing.
• Storyteller: syncs an audiobook with its ebook so the text is highlighted as it is read aloud, with its own phone apps.
• Libation: downloads the audiobooks from your own Audible account and files them where Audiobookshelf or Plex can see them.
• Readmeabook: request tool for audiobooks. Ask for a title and it finds it and files it for you.

Media and downloads

• Remux: a media server that any Jellyfin app can play from, fed by Stremio add-ons, local files and WebDAV.
• Aiometadata: posters, descriptions and catalogues for the Stremio app.
• Decypharr: lets Sonarr and Radarr fetch through a debrid service such as Real-Debrid instead of torrenting.
• InfiniDysk: the maintained successor of NzbDAV. It can take over your existing NzbDAV settings unchanged, and NzbDAV itself will be retired later this year.
• Slskd: a web client for the Soulseek network. Nothing is shared from your appbox unless you set it up yourself.

Everything else

• AdGuard Home: ad and tracker blocking over DNS. On an appbox it works as encrypted DNS over HTTPS with a private address only your devices know, so it can never be used as an open resolver.
• Mattermost: team chat, a self-hosted Slack.
• Headscale: your own coordination server for the Tailscale apps. Your devices talk to each other directly; no traffic goes through the appbox.

Requested but not added

A few requests we looked at and decided not to offer as a one-click install. You can still run any of them yourself with the rootless Docker that comes with your appbox; this is only about what we put our own name on and support.

• Tidarr downloads music from Tidal at full quality. It has no licence, and it is the kind of tool that gets a takedown sent to us rather than to you.
• Tailscale as a client can be turned into a VPN exit node with one command, which makes your appbox an exit point for anyone you invite. Headscale is available instead: it coordinates your devices without carrying their traffic.
• Kometa rewrites Plex libraries: collections, poster overlays and metadata. We do not support tools that change Plex libraries, because a wrong setting can undo months of work in a library we then get asked to fix.
• Mousehole has no licence. The author has promised one; when it arrives we will look again.
• A few requests pointed at images that do not exist on any registry. If yours was one of them, request it again once the project publishes an image.

Requests are now looked at every day, so if there is something you want, the form on the Apps page is the fastest way to get it in front of us.

Two things I want you to check before it goes out. Readmeabook's line mentions what it does, not the apps it needs, in line with the non-technical rule. The NzbDAV retirement line commits you to retiring it later this year; cut it if you would rather not promise that yet.
