Flexdisks: Flexible, On The Fly, Storage

Name: flexdisk

Flex Disk

The Flex Disk is a network-attached storage disk that you can add to one or multiple Appbox +Stream boxes. It lets you add storage in a flexible way, starting from 50GB up to multiple terabytes. It's priced at €0.06 per 10GB with a €0.50 base cost. For instance, 200GB of storage would cost: €0.50 + (200 × €0.006) = €1.70/month.

By adding a Flex Disk to your +Stream box you can increase your total storage without having to upgrade to the next plan. Flex Disks are ideal for long-term storage and work very well for streaming Plex content.

⚠️ Due to I/O limitations, you can only move files onto the Flex Disk. Torrent clients are not allowed to directly download to the Flex Disk. Seeding from Flex Disk is also not permitted.

Setup

Navigate to your box and select Add Flex Disk. Select the size you want and pay the invoice — your Flex Disk will be deployed and your Plex upgraded to support it automatically.

A new folder called flexdisk/ will appear in your home directory. Moving files into this folder frees up space on your main storage and counts them against your Flex Disk quota instead.

Once files are on your Flex Disk, run Filebot so Plex can find them:

filebot

Navigate to your Flex Disk in the menu and use Actions → Run Filebot.

Automatically copying downloads to Flex Disk

The Bytesized Deluge plugin can automatically copy files to your Flex Disk after a download completes. Open Deluge preferences, navigate to Bytesized and enable Copy files to Flex Disk. Use the whitelist/blacklist options to restrict which content gets copied — leaving both empty will copy everything.
