The Lounge

The Lounge is a self-hosted web IRC client (successor to Shout). It allows you to stay connected to IRC from any browser and pick up conversations where you left off.

Unlike most Bytesized apps, The Lounge is installed system-wide (v4.2.0) and can be used directly without going through the app installer.

Starting The Lounge

To start the server:

thelounge start

To add a user:

thelounge add username

To list existing users:

thelounge list

To reset a user's password:

thelounge reset username

IRC commands reference

• /clear — clear the current screen
• /close — close the current window
• /connect — connect to a new network (e.g. /connect irc.libera.chat)
• /disconnect — disconnect from the current network
• /invite — invite a user to a channel (e.g. /invite john #chan)
• /join — join a channel (e.g. /join #chan)
• /kick — kick a user from a channel (e.g. /kick john)
• /leave — leave the current channel or query
