Organizr on a Seedbox: One Dashboard for All Your Apps

Organizr stitches all your seedbox apps into one dashboard. Single login, tabs for each app, easy to share with the family. Here's the Bytesized setup.

What Organizr Is

Organizr is a dashboard that wraps your other apps. You add Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Tautulli, Overseerr, and so on as tabs; users log in to Organizr once, see only the tabs you've allowed them, and click to access each app inside the same UI.

It's the front door most home-server setups end up wanting after they've installed five or six apps. Easier than handing out five different URLs and five different passwords.

Why Run It on a Seedbox?

Two main wins:

A seedbox covers it cleanly:

Installing Organizr

Open the Bytesized Panel, find Organizr in the app catalog, click install. The panel sets up the install, the database, the reverse proxy, the URL.

Click "Open" and run through the first-run wizard.

First-Run Setup

  1. Create the admin account. Username, email, password.
  2. Configure the database. Default SQLite is fine for personal use.
  3. Set the site URL. Use the panel's HTTPS URL.

Once you're in, the dashboard is empty. Add your apps as tabs.

Adding App Tabs

For each app you want to wrap:

  1. Tab Editor > Add Tab.
  2. Pick the type. Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Tautulli, Ombi, Overseerr, and a long list of others have presets.
  3. Set the URL. Internal URL from the panel works best.
  4. Set permissions. Which user roles can see this tab.

Save and the tab appears in the side menu. Users assigned that role see the tab and can click into the wrapped app.

User Roles

Organizr has tiered roles: Admin, Co-Admin, User, Power User, Guest. You assign tabs per role; users see what their role allows.

Common pattern:

Plex Single Sign-On

Organizr can use your Plex account for auth. Settings > Auth > Plex Auth. After this, anyone with access to your Plex server can log in to Organizr with their Plex credentials.

Combined with role-based tab visibility, you get a clean shared dashboard for your Plex group.

Common Gotchas

App tab loads but then blanks. Iframe security headers from the wrapped app. Some apps explicitly block being framed; Organizr has per-app workarounds, but a few apps still need workarounds enabled in their own settings.

Plex auth fails. Plex.tv OAuth needs the right redirect URL. Make sure Organizr's site URL matches the URL users actually visit.

Slow on the first load. Organizr loads the wrapped apps lazily, but the first hit on each tab loads that app's full UI. Subsequent navigation is faster.

Sub-tabs not appearing. Most app integrations need an API key and the right URL. Re-test the connection inside Organizr's tab editor.

FAQ

Is Organizr free? Yes. Free and open source.

Will it work with all my apps? The major ones have presets (Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Tautulli, Overseerr, qBittorrent, etc.). Custom URL tabs work for anything else.

Does it replace any of my apps? No. Organizr is just a dashboard; the underlying apps still do the work.

Can my friends use Plex auth? Yes. They sign in to Organizr with their Plex account.

Should I use Organizr or Heimdall? Heimdall is a simpler alternative; just app icons, no embedding. Organizr is more feature-rich. For a household with shared access, Organizr; for a personal bookmark page, Heimdall.
