What a Bytesized Appbox Costs in 2026: Every Plan, Priced

Review sites keep saying we start at €14 or €15 a month. We don't. Appbox Lite is €5 for 500 GB, and here is every other plan we sell with the price next to it, read off our own plans page this morning.

Appbox Lite is €5 a month, and here is everything else

Every few weeks somebody opens a ticket asking whether our cheapest plan is really €14, because that is the number they read in a review. It isn't. The cheapest Appbox is €5 a month for 500 GB. €14 buys 3 TB.

I would rather you got this from us than from a two-year-old comparison table, so this is the whole list, copied off our plans page on 5 October

  1. Prices are monthly and exclude VAT. If you are reading this much later, check the plans page, because that one is always right and this one is a snapshot.

The Appbox line

This is the main product. Unmetered traffic, a 10 Gbit port on every tier, and the transcode column is how many Plex streams the plan can convert at once.

Plan Storage Price Plex transcodes Per TB
Appbox Lite 500 GB €5 2 €10.00
Appbox +1 1 TB €11 3 €11.00
Appbox +3 3 TB €14 4 €4.67
Appbox +6 6 TB €32 5 €5.33
Appbox +9 9 TB €48 6 €5.33
Appbox +12 12 TB €64 7 €5.33
Appbox +15 15 TB €80 8 €5.33
Appbox +18 18 TB €96 10 €5.33

Two things jump out of that last column, and both of them are useful if you are about to buy.

The €14 plan is the cheapest terabyte we sell. At €4.67 per TB, Appbox +3 is better value per unit of storage than anything else on the list, including the big plans, which all settle at a flat €5.33. If storage is what you are buying, that is the plan to buy.

Which means Appbox +1 is the odd one out. At €11 for 1 TB you are paying €11 per TB, more than Lite and more than double the +3. It exists because some people want exactly a terabyte and a third transcode, and that is a fine reason. But if you are choosing between +1 and +3 on storage alone, the extra €3 gets you three times the disk. Spend it.

So the honest shape of our price list is: €5 to get in the door, €14 for the plan most people should actually be on, and a straight line at €5.33 per TB above that.

What unmetered means here

Unmetered means there is no traffic counter and no overage bill. The limit is in the terms: you cannot use more than three times what an average customer on your plan uses in a month. Normal use does not come close. If you are running a box flat out around the clock, you might, and in that case we would rather sell you a bigger plan than throttle you quietly.

The AI Appbox line

Same entry price, different deal. This one ships with an assistant wired into your library and your downloads, and its bandwidth is metered rather than unmetered.

Plan Storage Bandwidth Price Plex transcodes
0.5 TB 500 GB 3 TB €5 2
1 TB 1 TB 5 TB €10 3
2 TB 2 TB 8 TB €15 3
3 TB 3 TB 10 TB €20 4
6 TB 6 TB 10 TB €35 5
9 TB 9 TB 15 TB €50 6
12 TB 12 TB 20 TB €65 7

Read the bandwidth column before you compare it to the table above. The 6 TB AI plan is €35 against €32 for 6 TB of unmetered Appbox, and it comes with a 10 TB monthly allowance instead of no counter at all. If you want the assistant, that is what it costs. If you want to seed, the plain Appbox is the better buy. The AI Appbox page explains what the assistant actually does.

The GPU Appbox line

Hardware transcoding, six GPU transcodes on every tier, from 1 TB upwards.

Plan Storage Bandwidth Price
1 TB 1 TB 6 TB €25
2 TB 2 TB 6 TB €32
3 TB 3 TB 6 TB €39
6 TB 6 TB 10 TB €60
9 TB 9 TB 15 TB €81
12 TB 12 TB 20 TB €102
15 TB 15 TB 25 TB €123
18 TB 18 TB 30 TB €144

The GPU line roughly doubles the per-TB price of the plain Appbox, and the bandwidth is metered. It is worth it if you genuinely need to transcode 4K to a client that cannot direct play, and it is a waste of money if your TV can. We priced the whole market for that one in which seedboxes actually sell GPU transcoding, including the host that undercuts us at 2 TB.

Dedicated Appboxes

One machine, yours, at Leaseweb: €150 a month for an R240 +Archive with 80 TB of bandwidth on a 1 Gbit port and ten transcodes. How much disk you get depends on the RAID level you pick: 16 TB on RAID-10, 24 TB on RAID-5, 32 TB on RAID-0. Setup fees apply and are not refundable.

The terms attached to those numbers

The refund policy has real fine print and I would rather you read it than find out later: a custom deal or a renewal longer than a month gives up the standard refund, prepaid amounts can't be refunded after 60 days, and crypto payments can't be refunded at all. If you want to try us properly, pay with PayPal for the first month. All of that is on the refund page.

Four numbers the review sites have wrong

I read three reviews of us this morning. The scores are generous and I am not about to argue with them. The prices are old, and they are the reason people arrive thinking we start at €14.

"€14/mo for 1 TB." That is RapidSeedbox's Usenet round-up, where we sit at number seven. €14 is our 3 TB plan. 1 TB is €11. And the entry price is neither, it is €5.

"€15/month is the typical price for a full-featured Appbox." Their Jellyfin round-up, where we come fifth. A full-featured Appbox with Plex and the whole app library is €5, with two transcodes. The same page has our dedicated servers at "around €79-129"; the dedicated Appbox is €150.

"From $15 / month." SeedboxExpert, on a page that scores us 9 out of 10 and says nice things about the app catalogue. The entry plan has been €5 for a long time.

"Only offers a 2-day money-back guarantee." Same review. It is seven days, pro-rata, and it is written on both the plans page and the refund page. The same review says root access is limited to "Capsule Plans", which is not a plan name we sell, and that we are "compatible with a whopping 44 apps", where the app library lists more than double that today and counts itself rather than being typed in.

None of this is a complaint about the reviewers. Review pages go stale, ours would too, and a host that publishes its prices in a table should not be hard to check. It does mean that if you asked an assistant what we cost, you probably got €14 or €15, and now you have the real list.

Picking a plan without reading the table twice

If you have never run one, start with Lite at €5. 500 GB is about sixty films in 1080p, it carries two Plex transcodes, and moving up a plan later happens in place if the disk your box lives on has room. Nobody needs to rebuild anything.

If you already know you are building a library, go straight to +3 at €14. It is the cheapest storage we sell and the point where the per-TB price stops being the thing you worry about.

If you are shopping the bottom of the market, read what €3 a month actually buys first. Several hosts beat our €5 on price and some of them are a good deal. The column that decides it is the traffic cap, not the disk.

And if the thing you are not sure about is what you get for the money rather than the money itself, what an appbox is is the shorter answer, and our budget page is the short version of this one.
