Autobrr & Cross-Seed: Automated Ratio Building on a Seedbox

The cutting edge of private tracker automation. IRC racing with Autobrr, cross-tracker seeding, and maximizing ratio across multiple trackers.

Beyond Basic Seeding

Most seedbox users seed by leaving completed downloads running. That works, but power users on private trackers can do much better with two tools: Autobrr for racing and Cross-seed for cross-tracker seeding.

Together, they automate the two most effective ratio-building strategies that exist.

Autobrr: IRC Racing

What It Does

Private trackers announce new uploads on IRC channels in real-time. Autobrr monitors these channels and grabs matching torrents instantly — faster than any RSS feed, and far faster than manual browsing.

Being among the first seeders on a new upload is the fastest way to build ratio. The first 10 seeders earn the majority of upload credit because everyone else downloads from them.

Setup on Bytesized

  1. Install Autobrr from the dashboard (one-click)
  2. Add your IRC networks and tracker announce channels
  3. Create filters: which content to grab (resolution, codec, size limits, release groups)
  4. Connect your download client (rTorrent, qBittorrent, or Deluge)

Filter Configuration

Be selective. Grabbing everything will fill your storage and strain resources. Good filters:

Cross-Seed: Ratio on Autopilot

What It Does

Cross-seed scans your existing downloads and finds the same content on other trackers. If you have a movie from Tracker A and it exists on Tracker B, cross-seed adds the Tracker B torrent pointing to your existing files. You start seeding immediately — no re-download needed.

You get ratio credit on Tracker B for data you already have. Multiply this across 5-10 trackers and the ratio gains are substantial.

How It Works

  1. Cross-seed scans your torrent client for completed downloads
  2. It searches your configured trackers for matching torrents (by name or info hash)
  3. When a match is found, it adds the matching torrent to your client pointing to the existing files
  4. You start seeding on the second tracker instantly — 100% complete, zero download

Setup on Bytesized

  1. Install Cross-seed from the dashboard
  2. Configure your tracker API keys or Torznab feeds (via Prowlarr)
  3. Point it at your torrent client
  4. Run a scan — it finds all cross-seedable content

Combining with Autobrr

The killer combo: Autobrr grabs a new release on Tracker A via IRC announce. You race it and earn ratio on Tracker A. Cross-seed detects it and finds matches on Trackers B, C, and D. You automatically start seeding the same data on all four trackers.

One download. Four trackers. Four times the ratio.

Autobrr can trigger cross-seed via webhooks for real-time cross-tracker detection.

Practical Ratio Strategy

For New Tracker Members

  1. Focus on freeleech content first — download doesn't count, upload does
  2. Seed long-term (weeks/months) rather than hit-and-run
  3. Use Autobrr to race popular new releases during peak hours
  4. Build 50-100GB of buffer before downloading freely

For Established Members

  1. Autobrr for racing new releases → fastest ratio building
  2. Cross-seed across all your trackers → passive ratio growth
  3. Seed popular content indefinitely → slow but steady
  4. Participate in site events (freeleech, upload contests)

Storage Management

Racing and cross-seeding fill storage fast. Manage it:
