Navidrome on a Seedbox: Stream Your Music Anywhere

What Navidrome Is

Navidrome is a self-hosted music server: point it at a music folder and it gives you a fast, modern web player plus compatibility with the whole Subsonic app ecosystem on mobile. Think of it as your own streaming service, built from your own files, with no monthly fee and no takedowns.

Music libraries are exactly the kind of thing that makes a VPS expensive and an appbox cheap: storage. Your appbox comes with hundreds of gigabytes to terabytes included, and the same library your other apps manage is what Navidrome streams.

Installing It

Open the Bytesized Panel, find Navidrome in the app catalog, click install. The panel starts the container, points it at the music folder inside your media directory, and wires up the web address with HTTPS.

You will find it at navidrome.USERNAME.SERVER.bysh.me (your panel username and server name, both shown on your appbox page). Sign in with your panel username and the password shown on the Navidrome tile.

Getting Music In

Navidrome reads the music folder in your media directory. Anything that lands there shows up after the next scan, which runs automatically. Two common ways to fill it:

• Automated: Lidarr manages your music library into that folder for you.
• Manual: upload via your file manager or SFTP into the media music folder.

Tag quality matters more than folder names; Navidrome organises by the tags inside your files. If your library looks messy in the player, a pass with a tagger like MusicBrainz Picard on your files fixes it.

Listening on Your Phone

Navidrome speaks the Subsonic protocol, so the mobile app ecosystem is wide. Popular choices: Symfonium (Android), play:Sub and Amperfy (iOS), DSub, and Feishin on desktop. In any of them, add a server with:

Streaming works anywhere, and most apps can cache for offline listening.

Good to Know

• Navidrome transcodes on the fly when an app asks for a smaller bitrate, and on CPU that is light work even for FLAC libraries.
• Multiple people can have accounts: create extra users in the web UI under Settings, Users. Handy for family without sharing your own login.
• It sits happily next to Plex or Jellyfin reading the same files; nothing conflicts.
