Alternatives to RapidSeedbox, Ultra.cc and Whatbox With Plex: We Checked the Plans

The short answer

If you're leaving RapidSeedbox, Ultra.cc or Whatbox and you want Plex, the number that matters isn't the starting price. It's the price of the cheapest plan that's allowed to run Plex, and at most hosts those are different plans.

On 15 September 2026 that plan cost €5 at Bytesized, $10 at DediSeedbox and Evoseedbox, €13.95 at Ultra.cc, 14 EUR at Whatbox, €15.75 at Seedhost and €30 at RapidSeedbox. What you get for the money is very different, so the table below puts storage, upload allowance, locations and refund window next to each price.

Every figure comes from the host's own plan, FAQ, terms or refund page, read on that date. Prices move and plans sell out, so check before you pay. Yes, we're in the table. Where another host is the better pick, I say so.

Why the starting price misleads

Hosts advertise their cheapest plan, and the cheapest plan is usually a torrent-only box:

• RapidSeedbox starts at €4 a month for 500 GB, but that plan has one torrent client and no app installer. Its help desk says streaming apps are prohibited on the Fast plan too. Plex starts on the Stream plan.
• Ultra.cc lists Lancer at €4.95, but its docs say Plex and Jellyfin aren't available on Essential tier plans, and Lancer showed 0 available when I looked. Plex starts on Metaliux Tin.
• Evoseedbox starts at $5 for 150 GB. Plex is in the full app catalogue, which starts at 300 GB on Evo Speed.
• Seedhost sells 2 TB for €5, but its FAQ says streaming apps can be used starting from the HD 7 package.

Whatbox and DediSeedbox are the exceptions. Both put Plex on every plan, so their starting price is their Plex price.

The table

Prices are monthly on monthly billing, in the currency each host showed me. RapidSeedbox shows lower prices if you pay for longer terms.

Two hosts that come up in these lists aren't in the table. Pulsed Media says on its own wiki that it does not support Plex. Jellyfin is its included media server, and you can install Plex yourself over SSH. HostingByDesign has Plex in its app list from €6.59 for 1 TB, but apps are installed with a command over SSH, and its support page says it doesn't help configure individual applications. Both can be good hosts. They just aren't Plex-included in the sense most people mean.

If you're leaving RapidSeedbox

The usual reason is price. Plex on RapidSeedbox means the Stream plan at €30 a month for 2.2 TB, because the cheaper plans don't allow streaming apps.

• For more storage for less: Ultra.cc's Tin gives you 4 TB for €13.95 and Whatbox's H3-4 gives you 3.90 TB for 14 EUR. Both cap upload and slow you down after it.

If you're leaving Ultra.cc

Ultra.cc is good value on storage, so price usually isn't the reason to move. The reasons are more often the upload cap (10 TB on Tin, then 100 Mb/s) wanting to run something that isn't in the catalogue. Ultra.cc's docs say you can't install anything that needs root, and they name Docker images.

• For your own containers: every Bytesized appbox includes rootless Docker, and each container gets its own HTTPS address. Pulsed Media also runs rootless Docker, but see the Plex note above. Which seedbox hosts let you run Docker has the details.
• For no upload cap: RapidSeedbox Stream (unlimited traffic, €30), or our +Stream plans from €14.
• If you need Canada or Singapore: Whatbox is the only other host here with a location outside Europe.

If you're leaving Whatbox

Whatbox already includes Plex on every plan, and its plans page notes that you need an active Plex Pass. Its cheapest plan is 14 EUR, so the usual reason to look elsewhere is wanting a smaller, cheaper box, or wanting apps that aren't on its one-click list.

• For a smaller bill: Appbox Lite at €5 for 500 GB, or DediSeedbox Starter at $10 for 750 GB. DediSeedbox's terms prohibit uploading to public trackers, so check that fits how you use it.
• For a bigger catalogue: we install everything in our app catalogue from the panel, and Evoseedbox lists 103 apps from Evo Speed up.
• For more storage: Seedhost's HD 7 has 7 TB for €15.75, with one streaming app at a time on shared plans.

What you'd give up: Whatbox's 3.90 TB for 14 EUR is hard to beat per terabyte, and it has the only US location in the table. Our Whatbox migration guide covers the move if you go.

Where we're weaker

You should know these before you pick us:

• Appbox Lite is small. 500 GB and 3 TB of bandwidth is enough to try Plex and the arr apps, not for a big library. Extra bandwidth is €1.50 for 0.5 TB, up to €7 for 3 TB. If you know you need terabytes, look at the plans page first.
• Our refund window is the shortest here. A pro-rata refund in the first 48 hours, per our refund policy, and crypto payments can't be refunded. Pay with PayPal if you want to try us.
• No live chat and no 24/7 support. Support is usually available 20 hours a day through tickets, as our terms say.

• Europe only. If you stream from North America or Asia, Whatbox or Ultra.cc have servers closer to you.

What we do well: Plex on every plan from €5, a one-click catalogue installed from the panel, your own containers with HTTPS, a GPU Appbox from €25 if you need hardware transcoding, and 10 Gbit on every Appbox plan. We've been running since 2009.

How to pick

1. Write down your library size and how much you upload a month. That rules out half the table on its own.
2. Find the cheapest plan that runs Plex at each host, not the cheapest plan.
3. Read the traffic line in the terms. "Unlimited" means different things: a 100 TB cap at DediSeedbox, a right to review excessive use at RapidSeedbox.
4. Check the refund window before you pay, and pay with something refundable.
5. Look at reviews with a count and a date. We read every host's Trustpilot page so you don't have to.
