Prowlarr Guide: One Indexer Manager for All Your Arr Apps

What Prowlarr Does

Prowlarr is the indexer hub for the Arr stack. Instead of adding trackers and indexers separately to Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, and Readarr, you add them once in Prowlarr and it syncs everywhere.

It supports both torrent trackers and Usenet indexers, giving you a single management interface for all your content sources.

Why Prowlarr Matters

Before Prowlarr, you'd manually configure indexers in each Arr app. Add a new tracker? Update 4 apps. Tracker changes its URL? Update 4 apps. With Prowlarr:

• Add an indexer once → available in all connected apps
• Tracker URL changes → update once in Prowlarr
• Stats and health checks for all indexers in one dashboard
• Automatic sync keeps everything current

Setup on Bytesized

1. Install Prowlarr from the dashboard (one click)
2. Add your indexers (trackers and/or Usenet)
3. Connect Sonarr, Radarr, and other apps under Settings → Apps
4. Done — indexers sync automatically

Adding Indexers

Click Indexers → Add Indexer. Prowlarr has built-in support for 500+ indexers:

Public torrent trackers:

• 1337x, RARBG successors, TorrentGalaxy
• AnimeTosho (for anime — see anime guide)

Private torrent trackers:

• Add your tracker's API key or cookie
• Supports most major private trackers

Usenet indexers:

• NZBgeek, DrunkenSlug, NZBPlanet
• Add your API key from the indexer site

Connecting Apps

Under Settings → Apps, add each Arr application:

1. Click Add Application
2. Select Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, or Readarr
3. Enter the app's URL and API key (found in each app's Settings → General)
4. Choose sync level: Full Sync (recommended) adds and removes indexers automatically

FlareSolverr for Cloudflare-Protected Sites

Some indexers use Cloudflare protection. FlareSolverr is a proxy that solves these challenges automatically:

1. Install FlareSolverr from the Bytesized Panel
2. In Prowlarr, go to Settings → Indexers and add FlareSolverr as a proxy
3. Cloudflare-protected indexers now work seamlessly

Search vs RSS

Prowlarr supports two modes:

• RSS: Polls indexers periodically for new releases. Sonarr/Radarr use this for automatic monitoring.
• Interactive Search: Manual search triggered from Sonarr/Radarr when you want a specific release.

Both are configured automatically when you connect apps.

Indexer Stats

Prowlarr tracks query stats per indexer: successful queries, failures, response times. Use this to identify unreliable indexers and replace them.
